THE GREAT OUTDOORS
No matter the season, we explore the physical and mental benefits of nature and share a few ways to enjoy the great outdoor adventures in everyday life. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive in…
A Few Ways to Enjoy the Great Outdoors
The invitation to explore outdoors is calling our name. Spending time in nature can improve our overall wellbeing and foster a deeper connection with the world around us. Join us as we share a few ways to get outside and enjoy the outdoors...
A LOOK INTO THE RESEARCH
Research shows that nature has a positive impact on our brains and the scents of the outdoors, like fresh flowers, can help us to feel more calm and relaxed. Spending time outside can also give our immune system a boost by absorbing vitamin D from the sun and phytoncides from plants, a chemical that can increase our white blood cells and help us to fight off infections.
6 WAYS TO GET MOVING: TRY A NEW OUTDOOR ACTIVITY
Escape outdoors and try out new sports or outdoor group activities to enjoy nature and get your physical activity in! Here are a few activities to get you started:
01 Frisbee Golf: Much less equipment needed than traditional golf and can be played at a course or you can make your own holes.
02 Yoga in the Park: Grab a friend and hit a local park to get a sunrise or sunset sweat in. (Don’t forget Savasanna!)
03 Kayaking: Swap out the canoe and try kayaking this summer for a peaceful drift down the river and a great arm workout.
04 Hiking: Lace up your shoes and locate a trail near you to see what nature has to offer on your outdoor escape this season.
05 Visiting a Botanical Garden or Arboretum: Looking for some greenery in your life? Visit a nearby arboretum for the perfect outdoor winter activity. Or find your local botanical garden for the perfect indoor-outdoor balance that will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
06 Camping: Grab a stick and some marshmallows. Whether it’s an old-fashioned tent or a tricked-out cabin, camping is the perfect way to tap into the outdoor lifestyle.
